GLOSSARY/Security

Governance Attacks

Malicious attempts to subvert the decision-making processes of a DAO or protocol.

Governance attacks include "hostile takeovers" via flash loans, sybil voting, and social engineering of key stakeholders. Defense strategies involve long voting periods, quorum requirements, and "timelocks" that allow users to exit a protocol before a malicious proposal can be executed.
